An eight-year-old boy drowned on Saturday around 4 pm, after he apparently fell into a reservoir close to a sand yard where he had been playing. The reservoir is estimated to be approximately 12 feet deep.
Dead is Emmanuel Welch of Lot 19 Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje, Berbice.
Welch’s foster mother Nadira Toolsie told Stabroek News that on Saturday when she returned from work around 4 pm she did not see her son. The woman, who is a domestic worker, said she started to search for him.
