Government’s representative on the Guyana Lotteries Commission Board Vladim Persaud says while the benefits may not be immediately visible, the Lotto proceeds make an impact on sports and culture and he defended government’s handling of it, pointing to the ruling by the High Court in December last.
Persaud – the Deputy Accountant General – said there is nothing to add on whether government is acting improperly or illegally in utilising the funds outside of parliamentary approval. “It has been settled by the court action,” said Persaud in an interview with this newspaper on Friday.
