Guyanese author Maureen Rampertab donating copies of her book, Story Time to children at the Shaheed’s Girl Orphanage at Oleander Gardens, East Coast Demerara. The book, published in September 2012 is a collection of stories for children that journey into the world of adventure, mysteries, fairy tales, magic and dreams, a release from the author said. The donation was done to mark Rampertab’s birthday and she said she hopes to continue donating copies of her books to orphanages across the country.

Narrow escape: Three persons narrowly escaped serious injuries when their vehicle hit the median and turned over along the East Coast public road in the vicinity of Atlantic Gardens last night. “We just coming from a wedding at Laluni and we going to Cane Grove,” said one of the three occupants of the Toyota Hilux Surf, as he related the incident. The man suffered a number of bruises about the body and was advised by the police to seek medical attention. Police at the scene took away the driver of the vehicle and a number of persons whom were said to have relieved the accident victims of valuables under the guise of helping. The badly damaged vehicle after it was set right.
