Accused in Melanie murder freed

Nolan Roberts, accused of fatally stabbing another man at Melanie, East Coast Demerara in 2004, was yesterday freed after a no-case submission made by his attorney was upheld by Justice Roxane George in the High Court.

Justice George upheld the no-case application that was made by attorney Jorawar Misir, and then asked the 12-member jury to return a formal verdict of not guilty.

Roberts was then discharged by Justice George.
Roberts was on trial for the murder of Andrew Walters, which occurred on April 6,
