World Story Telling Day: The Umana Yana came alive last evening when the Ministry of Culture hosted an evening of International, Regional and Guyanese stories in observance of World Story Telling Day.
Under this year’s theme ‘Fortune and fate’ the crowd heard a wide selection of folk tales ranging from the Balgobin stories to the story of Makantal: A Guyanese porknocker hero.
The crowd was also serenaded by selections on the violin by Chie Clarke and a dance by the Drama School.
World Story Telling Day is a global celebration of the art of oral storytelling.
