Industry man dies after suspected hit-and-run at Turkeyen

An accident on the Turkeyen Public Road, near to the Liliendaal pump station, on Wednesday has left one man dead.

Dead is Ian Chaves, 43, of Lot 9 Crown Dam, Industry and a former employee of Hand-in-Hand Mutual. His wife Khaneza said that she got the call at around 12 pm while she was cooking and the caller who identified herself only as, ‘Amanda’ told her to come down to the public hospital.

She told Stabroek News that when she arrived at the hospital her husband was in a bad state and unconscious. Both of his arms and legs were broken and there were lacerations all over his body. The doctors tried to revive him she said, but he had a punctured lung and severe internal bleeding and he eventually succumbed.
