Bandits intercepted by cops at Coldingen, sub-machine gun recovered

Blood stains were not yet cleaned up at the scene of the incident. The men ran out of the restaurant in an attempt to flee police leaving behind a pair of slippers, a bloody cap and an old bandana.

Police apprehended three men after an attempted robbery in the Coldingen, ECD area yesterday afternoon and recovered a sub-machine gun in the process.

One of the men, a 23-year-old of Strathspey, was shot in his right foot and sustained injuries to his knee after police opened fire at the New Luck Chinese restaurant. He was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation later in the evening and is currently recovering from his injuries under armed guard.

According to witnesses, the men were armed with multiple guns. A mobile police patrol was tipped off and accosted the three men before they were able to commit the robbery.
