Sister of Bel Air robbery accused remanded over threatening witness

The sister of an accused in the July 12, 2011 $7.2 million robbery committed at businessman Malcolm Panday’s Bel Air home was yesterday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on a charge of obstructing justice.

Seuranie Rampersaud, 56, of 692 Cummings Lodge is accused of making a telephone call to a sister of one of the prosecution witnesses in the robbery on October 1, 2012, and threatening to kill her and her family.

Rampersaud pleaded not guilty.
