Court detains woman over false chopping threat

A woman was yesterday placed in the prisoners’ holding cell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court after she falsely accused her common-law husband of threatening to chop her.

Calbert Pitman, 30, was arraigned before Magistrate Ann McLennan on a charge of threatening language. It was alleged that on August 8, at d’Urban Backlands, Pitman, after a misunderstanding with his common-law wife Beverly Emanuel, threatened to chop her.

Pitman pleaded not guilty.
