The Bamboo orchid

Arundina graminifolia commonly called the Bamboo orchid is native to Asia and the Pacific Islands.  It is the only species in this genus.

Bamboo orchids are terrestrial orchids which grow in soil with tall grass like leaves looking like bamboo plants, hence the common name. The flowers are rosy pink/lilac, with a purple/magenta lip and look like  Cattleya flowers. Only one or two flowers are produced at a time, on stems holding 10 or more buds.  It flowers all year round.
