Mainstreaming the financing of terrorism

guyana and the wider worldLast week’s column provided a brief synopsis of the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) international standard. These were recently put into force in 2012 to counter money laundering, the financing of terrorism, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Based on FATF’s mission and its prescribed operational arrangements, these standards were organised and presented to readers under the rubric of the seven groupings of targeted areas that FATF employs. In addition a summary description of some of the key items that are found within each grouping was provided.
