Blairmont man on trafficking charge after cops intercept 2 kilos of ganja

A Blairmont resident was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of narcotics trafficking after police intercepted a bag containing over 2 kilogrammes of cannabis during its transport to Georgetown and then organised a sting to catch the owner.

The charge read to Pooran Ramoo at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court stated that on November 20, at Blairmont, West Coast Berbice, he allegedly had 2.360kg of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The case, which was first called before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, was transferred to the court of Magistrate Judy Latchman,
