The police today said that constable Dorwin Pitman who died in Sophia while chasing an escaping prisoner succumbed to cardiac arrest.
It had originally been speculated that Pitman had been electrocuted during his chase of the fleeing prisoner on Monday morning.
The prisoner had fled from the Prashad Nagar police outpost while Pitman was preparing to hand out meals. Pitman was the only policeman on duty at the time.
