The Regional Executive Officers of the 10 Administrative Regions were given life jackets as part of the Ministry of Public Works’ mandate to ensure continued safety on the waterways.
Today, Minister of Public Works, Robeson Benn, and Communications Officer of Maritime Administration Department (MARAD), Akousa McPherson distributed 600 lifejackets for children at the Ministry of Local Government’s Boardroom.
Benn expressed his concern over the number of deaths on the waterways that were reported last year. That figure stands at 37.
