Full Gospel Fellowship celebrating golden jubilee

The Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches has launched a year-long roster of activities to celebrate its golden jubilee anniversary this year.

The activities were launched at a prayer breakfast held at Marian Academy on Saturday, under the theme “Let’s celebrate! Together we build; together we achieve!” a press release from the church said.

Special invitees included Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, Opposition Leader David Granger, Speaker of the National Assembly Raphael Trotman and other political leaders as well as the leaders and heads of the various Christian dominations in Guyana.  In giving a brief history about the fellowship, Professor Winston McGowan said it sprang from a vision that God gave to the late Philip Mohabir, a Guyanese who migrated to the United Kingdom. Mohabir returned to Guyana and, along with several other persons started the fellowship in 1964. Today, the fellowship comprises about 120 churches located across the 10 administrative regions.
