Neoregelia commonly called Blushing bromeliad is found throughout South America, Central America and Florida, and grows in trees in the rainforest. There are approximately 90 species along with new hybrids. This bromeliad was named by a Russian botanist in the mid-1800s. Neoregelia carolinae tricolor is the most popular member of this species and is a favourite in European collections.
The spreading rosette of stiff, strappy leaves with toothed margins are striped cream and green in colour, and these turn brilliant red in the centre at flowering time and will remain so for many months if the centre is kept with some water in the tank.
