The Guyana/Brazil bilateral cooperation programme included the establishment of the Joint Commission for the Development of Infrastructure Projects in Guyana and the Guyana/Brazil Frontier Committee.

According to the release, Rodrigues-Birkett wished him and his wife well in their new post to Barbados.

The establishment of diplomatic relations in 1968 between the two countries have resulted “friendly” relations on the bilateral level and at regional and sub-regional level such as the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organisation and the Union of South American Nations where they share common membership, the release said.
