Youth focused non-governmental organization Blue CAPS commenced its first Youths Experiencing Service (YES) community service project on Saturday June 14, a release from the group said.
The YES is a component of the month-long Building Communities through Leadership Training and Service (BCLTS) programme.
Thirty young leaders from several youth organizations joined with 10 young people from the Rasville community to conduct community surveys in the Rasville, Roxanne Burnham Gardens, and East Rumiveldt communities. Going door-to-door, the programme’s participants were able to complete approximately 200 questionnaires, the release added.
Programme participants will now design community projects to address some of the issues and problems identified in the survey. The programme will conclude with a closing and awards ceremony on June 30 at the Duke Lodge Hotel in Kingston, Georgetown.
The Building Communities Through Leadership Training (BCLT) is a month long programme that includes classroom training and executing community service projects after consultations with the residents of selected communities.
