Miner dies after badly beaten, robbed by gunmen at Issano

An East Coast Demerara miner is now dead following an attack by two gunmen who severely battered and robbed him, along with two other workers, of gold and money at an Issano mining camp on Thursday.

Dead is Joseph Nurse, 35, of Lot 24 Belmonte, Mahaica.

A police press release stated that Nurse was in his mining camp at 14 Miles, Issano with two of his workers when they were attacked and beaten by two men armed with a piece of wood and a gun. The release said the men demanded gold and money and subsequently tied up Nurse and the others before leaving the camp.

Additionally, the release stated that 18-year-old Danesh Rampersaud of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo managed to free himself and untie the others
