Porter remanded over chopping relative in the back

A porter from Adventure, Essequibo Coast is the latest guest of the state after he was charged with felonious wounding.

Appearing at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court, 21-year-old Uroy Chapelle called ‘Boxy’ pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on September 19, he wounded Delroy Stephen.

According to the police, on the day in question Chapelle was at the home of Stephens who is his relative. At around 7.45 pm, Stephen’s wife sent him to buy oil and while walking down the step, he felt a hard knock to his back and felt blood running down his shoulders. When he turned around, Chapelle had a 20” chopper in his hand.

The police related that Stephen then asked Chapelle why he had chopped him, but he didn’t reply. Stephen ran to his friend’s house
