A Covent Garden man was killed early yesterday morning after a Green Ice taxi slammed into him along the East Bank Demerara public road while he was crossing to catch a bus.
Dindiyal Persaud, 54, of Lot 54 Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara died at the East Bank Demerara Regional Hospital at Diamond, where he was taken after he was struck down.
The accident occurred at Prospect along the East Bank public road. He was carried to the hospital by the taxi driver, who is currently in custody at the Providence Police Station.
According to information received, the driver of the taxi was an acquaintance to Persaud’s family
