The Cane Garden Leguan Project has seen some 750 meters of Rip Rap completed to date and works are expected to end by December 2014, a statement from the Ministry of Works said today.

According to Project Engineer, Dennis Ramsingh, approximately 1,000 meters of Sea Defence was subjected to severe erosion which led to the loss of all the mangroves within this stretch, therefore, the earthen embankment was fully exposed to the sea

Ramsingh further reiterated that all phases of the Project are expected to be completed in December 2014, the release said. The project was funded by the Government of Guyana
