Hemwattie Amyan dethroned her younger sister and former national champion Rosetta Hiralall to become the new Women’s 501 Darts Champion at the National Darts Championship which ended on Sunday at the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) Pavilion.
Amyan triumphed 4-0 in the best of seven games over Hiralall, who recently became the first Guyanese woman to win an international darts tourney after winning the Brydens Barbados Classic.
In the Men’s category, defending Men’s Singles Champion Sudesh Fitzgerald fortified his title with a stunning performance that saw him emerge as victor over Anil Latchman. In the best of nine games, Fitzgerald recovered from being down two games to nil to claim championship honours at 5-2.
