Corentyne fisherman charged over chopping two women

A Corentyne fisherman was yesterday refused bail in the Whim Magistrate’s Court after he was charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Ian Sarawati, 30, of lot 91 Bush Lot, Corentyne, Berbice appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh to the charges that on December 11 at Whim, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Serojini Isaacs, 19, and Nelawattie Isaacs, 37, with intent to commit murder. Sarawati was not required to plead.
