Anna Benjamin is retiring as Editor of the Sunday Stabroek effective from February 1, 2015. She will not, however, be leaving the Stabroek News and will continue to discharge her other duties in relation to the newspaper, including editing letters and a few with respect to the Sunday edition.
Benjamin has been employed in various professional capacities in the past, including teaching, and was working as a researcher in the Amerindian Research Unit of the University of Guyana when twenty-two years ago she was recruited by the late Editor-in-Chief David de Caires to edit the Sunday paper. At an earlier stage of Stabroek News’s life beginning in January 1987, she had written a weekly column for the paper mostly on topics relating to social history.
Stabroek News Editor-in-Chief Anand Persaud thanked Benjamin for her sterling service over the years as Sunday Editor and said he was gratified that she will continue contributing to the newspaper.
