The Stag Beer-sponsored West Demerara Inter-Village five-a-side football tournament will officially commence on Friday at the Vergenoegen Rice Mill Tarmac.
The event, which is being sponsored by Ansa McAl and will be played over seven days, will feature 16 villages from the West Coast and West Bank of Demerara and the East Bank of Essequibo.
The seven fixture dates are August 10th, 21st, 27th, 29th, 31st with the grand finale being set for September 7th. Winners of the event will be awarded with $200,000 while second, third and fourth placed finishes will pocket $100,000, $75,000 and $25,000 respectively.
The other playing venue for the event will be the Pouderoyen Basketball Court.
