Region Four gains decisive for APNU+AFC at polls

Although managing to increase votes in Region Four by over 18,000 at the May 11th general elections, the APNU+AFC coalition only saw marginal growth in other regions compared to the 2011 elections, when the main coalition forces campaigned separately.

The coalition also lost votes in the key Region Six electoral district, although the loss was minimal.

According to the Guyana Election Commission’s official count for the general elections, APNU+AFC received 207, 200 votes to the PPP/C’s 202,694 votes to win both the presidency and a one-seat majority in the National Assembly.
