Heavy rain floods parts of city, East Coast

Heavy, persistent rain today has flooded parts of Georgetown and the lower East Coast.

Waterloo Street this morning.
Wellington Street this morning.

The northern carriageway of the East Coast Highway between Clive Lloyd Drive and the University of Guyana Road is completely flooded.

Many city streets have been flooded as trenches have spilled over. Villages on the East Coast such as Mon Repos and Strathspey are reporting deep flooding.
