The U.S. Embassy’s Security Cooperation Office, together with representatives from the Florida National Guard, recently sponsored an Emergency Operation Disaster Management Conference at the newly commissioned Emergency Operation Center located in Timehri, Guyana, a release from the US Embassy said today. The Emergency Operation Center was a gift from U.S. Southern Command and opened in April 2015. This year’s Disaster Management Conference was the first event of its kind to be held at the Emergency Operation Center. The release said that participants of the conference included members of the Florida National Guard, Guyana Defense Force, Guyana Police Force, Civil Defense Commission (CDC), Guyana Fire Services, Ministry of Health, and Guyana Prison System.
