Mugger gets nine months over attempted hold-up

Rakesh Persaud, who was held by public-spirited citizens after he tried to rob a woman as she was taking her daughter to a day care service, will be spending the next nine months in jail.

According to the charge against Persaud, on July 9th, at Bourda, being armed with a knife, he assaulted Julie Griffith with intent to rob her. He pleaded guilty when he appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court 2.
