Truck on fire: This container truck caught afire yesterday next to the Providence Police Station, East Bank. According to the occupants, they heard a loud bang as the truck was proceeding which they assumed to have been caused by the battery. They said that after driving a few hundred feet they were alerted to heavy smoke that was issuing from the vehicle. They quickly pulled over and used nearby sand and a fire extinguisher to put out the blaze. No one was injured.
