Repeat offender gets 56 months for violent robbery

Keon Simon, who had managed to evade imprisonment after several court appearances for charges of armed robbery, was yesterday sentenced to 56 months in jail.

Simon, 20, of 53 West La Penitence, Georgetown, was yesterday sentenced for a charge of armed robbery during which he used personal violence.

It was the police’s case that on June 13th, Simon robbed Marcia Rampersaud of two gold rings and a gold chain, carrying a total value of $60,000. The prosecutor, Simone Payne, had previously told the court that the items were recovered in Simon’s
