Coglan Ross aka ‘Sonny’ celebrated his 90th birthday

Coglan Ross aka ‘Sonny’ celebrated his 90th birthday at a simple ceremony on October 4 at the Herdmanston Lodge. The event was attended by his immediate family, relatives and close associates. He was born on October 4, 1925 in Georgetown where he also grew up. He attended Central High School, and later St Stanislaus College. In 1959 he opened his business, Ross (Guyoil) Gas Station in Ruimveldt which to date stands under the same proprietorship. Still going strong at 90, he demonstrated his vibrancy by showcasing dance moves to the calypso music played at the celebration. He mentioned that he is the “father of many, and has 56 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.” It was a double celebration, as September marked 45 years of marriage to his wife Alice, who is seen with him in the photo above.
