Midwives have been assured of the support of the Public Health Ministry, amidst efforts to improve the profession, GINA said. This support will be in the form of training, guaranteed referral systems, and educating principals about internationally acceptable standards of the profession.
Minister within the Ministry of Public Health Dr. Karen Cummings, addressing the Midwives Association of Guyana’s Fifth Annual Conference today, made this commitment. “I pledge my support, and the Ministry of Public Health is committed to supporting Midwives and midwifery”, GINA said.
