In light of the landing of a Venezuelan helicopter at Kaikan, in Region Seven, on Thursday, protestors yesterday once again picketed in front of the Venezuelan Embassy on Thomas Street, Georgetown. One of the protestors, Dennis Atwell, charged that Venezuela is up to something “sinister” and said the government should not take its actions lightly. Atwell added that the people in Region Seven should also be very vigilant. A probe is currently underway into the incident. Guyana has mounted an intense international campaign to rebuff Venezuela’s claims to its territory and settle a long running border controversy through a juridical settlement.
