Finance Minister restates Gov’t’s commitment to improving human development ranking

The United Nations (UN), Human Development Report 2014 ranked Guyana as a medium human development country, with a human development Index of 0.636, and a position of 124 out of 188 countries and territories, GINA said today.

Addressing the launch of the UN’s 2015 human development report at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre, today, Minister of Finance Winston Jordan reiterated Government’s intention to improving this ranking by 2020. At the same time, he also urged the UN, and its related bodies, and its various representatives across the globe to be more proactive to ensure that the multi-dimensional nature of poverty translates into a multi-dimensional assessment of development.
