Both the central government and city administration have begun works intended to create open air parks in the city.

Minister of Education Dr Rupert Roopnaraine explained to Stabroek News last evening that the central government is in the process of clearing the area between the 1763 Monument and the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in order to create an open green space for recreation. He explained that while the design of the space had not yet been finalized there have been discussions about including sporting facilities such as an athletic track.
