A 22-year-old Cane Grove man was robbed and badly beaten by a group of men on Friday evening while he was returning home from a ‘lime.’ He succumbed to his injuries hours later.
Deokumar Besdeo, called “Buddy” and “Kevin,” a cane harvester of Lot 77 Cane Grove Sawaya, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was left on the roadway in Cane Grove after a group of seven men attacked him on his way home and dealt him several lashes about his body, mostly to the head, with a piece of wood. He was taken to the Mahaicony Hospital before being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he succumbed.
According to a police press release, at around 9:30pm on Friday, Besdeo was reportedly involved in an altercation with a group of men in a vehicle along the roadway at Cane Grove. He was subsequently found on the roadway with injuries and admitted to the GPH where
