Devon Smith, 25, was accused of wounding Leon Richards on December 30, at Eteringbang Landing, Essequibo, with intent to commit murder.

Smith was not required to plead to the indictable charge. The prosecution reported that on the day in question, Richards and Smith were at a bar when they had a misunderstanding and Richards pushed Smith onto a table, causing a fight to ensue. Richards then allegedly took a bottle and stabbed Smith to the right side of his neck, causing injury. Richards was said to still be hospitalised.

The defendant was denied bail by Magistrate Fabayo Azore, who adjourned the matter to January 7th and transferred the case to Court 1.
