Construction work on the historic Umana Yana, which was gutted by fire in 2014 recommenced today, following the completion of the foundation in December, GINA said.

GINA said that it visited the site in Kingston, where Toshao of Masakenari, Paul Chekema and team were laying the poles for the Benab. Masakenari is a Wai Wai community.

Chekema explained that it is too costly to get the materials from Masakenari, Region Nine and that the Benab will be constructed using traditional techniques and materials supplied by St Cuthbert’s Mission and Moraikobai.
