Grove man remanded on cocaine trafficking charge

Michael France, called “Mosquito,” was yesterday remanded to prison after he made an appearance before a city court for alleged cocaine trafficking.

The Lot 12 Grove Housing Scheme man was read a charge which stated that on January 29, at Nazarene Street, Grove, East Bank Demerara, he had 11 grammes of cocaine in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

France pleaded not guilty to the charge.

France, 41, told the court that he was a businessman, who works in scaffolding. The accused was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and is set to make his next court appearance on March 7 before the Providence Magistrate’s Court.
