The Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education is currently training 29 volunteers to become tour guides for Georgetown, GINA said. This is to handle the increase in tourists for Guyana’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in May.

These volunteers have been drawn from the Ministry of Education’s Department of Culture, Youth and Sport’s volunteer programme. The three-day training is being done at the department on Main Street.
