Makushi Research Unit continuing to preserve indigenous language

The Makushi Research Unit of the North Rupununi, Region Nine continues to work to preserve the heritage, language and culture of the Indigenous peoples, GINA said.

During a visit to the Region by Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Minister, Sydney Allicock and team on March 9 to 10, it was observed that the unit was actively pursuing its mandate.

This group was recently bestowed the Medal of Service for its sacrifice, selflessness, success and service to communities, country and society.
