A visiting International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission has suggested that authorities moderate the growth of wages and reform public enterprises to reduce their reliance on government support.
“In that regard, the improved financial performance of Guyana Power and Light and the reforms proposed by the Commission of Inquiry for the Guyana Sugar Corporation are welcome,” the IMF said in a statement issued following a February 24 to March 7 visit by a team, led by Marcos Chamon,
