The $500,000 sip: President David Granger and other officials sample Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) 50-year-old El Dorado rum at yesterday’s launch of the alcoholic beverage which is a special edition to commemorate Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary next month. Each bottle, which is adorned with a gold pendant, is being sold at a cost of $500,000 plus VAT. Only 600 bottles have been produced.
