PPP/C protestors in front of the Ministry of the Presidency

The People Progressive’s Party (PPP) yesterday led a protest outside of the Ministry of the Presidency over the decision by Minister of Communities Ronald Bulkan to appoint the Mayor of Mabaruma and the chairpersons of five Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) following tied council votes.
Just over fifty persons from the various NDCs assembled with their placards and called for the decision to be reversed.
The protestors stood in the rain and protested for approximately forty five minutes.
PPP Executive Secretary Zulfikar Mustapha said that the demonstration is the first of many in the coming days.
According to Mustapha, the residents of the NDCs are upset with the decision made by Bulkan and which is now the subject of a court action initiated by the opposition.
