Arch erected at Agricola: The Ministry of Public Works yesterday erected a new Independence Arch at the capital city’s boundary at Agricola on the East Bank of Demerara.
Minister of Public Infrastructure David Patterson told Stabroek News that while the arch itself was positioned yesterday there are still “finishing touches” to be completed today, such as the placing of a crown and flag on the structure.
As part of its contribution to Guyana’s Golden Jubilee celebration this year, Banks DIH funded the fabrication and installation of the arch, which is a replacement for the one at Ruimveldt that went missing after being removed for expanded road works in 2004.
