Massive damage as power poles collapse: Three electricity poles fell on Church Street in the Bourda area yesterday, causing massive damage and inconvenience. Aside from taking out power to the area, which is largely commercial and includes such business entities as Bonny’s Supermarket and Steve’s Jewellery, one of the poles fell on a car parked outside the supermarket, damaging it. Another fell across Church Street effectively blocking traffic from traversing that thoroughfare for a period. There are several poles around the city showing signs of wear and tear which need to be replaced urgently.
