Williamsburg woman beaten during robbery

One man is now in custody after bandits on Saturday evening beat a 52-year-old woman of Williamsburg, Corentyne during a robbery.

Four armed perpetrators entered the home of Rampattie Ramdass around 7:30 pm, robbed her and escaped with approximately $80,000 in jewellery, two cellular phones and a small amount of cash. Ramdass relayed to Stabroek News, that she along with her brother, sister and a friend were sitting in the verandah when the perpetrators who were armed with a gun, two cutlasses and a knife gained entry.

Ramdass recalled that the men ordered them into the house. She said, “When abie come in a house, them put abie fa lie down. Them go search up all them room, them tumble up but me na think them find anything them want, because me na get nothing”. The woman stated, that one of the perpetrators hit her with the gun in her head, while another broadsided her with a cutlass. She said, “Them make all abie take off all abie gold and them gone with it”.
