Miner wounded with axe after row over water

An argument over water has landed a man in the hospital, where he is nursing a wound to his leg that was inflicted with a pick-axe.

Mark Adge, 37, of Ruby, East Bank Essequibo, said he was attacked by a co-worker at a mining pit in the North West District.

According to the man, who is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital, the attack stemmed from him drinking water from a bottle that apparently belonged to his co-worker. Adge said he was drinking the water from the bottle when his co-worker, who was also in the mines, sprayed him with dirty water.
